How did you pick your instrument?
Like many violists, I was a violinist for most of my early training. I transitioned to viola around age 17 at the suggestion of my conductor at the time, Richard Rintoul (who my chair is named for).
What is your favorite aspect of being a classical musician?
I love orchestral playing – it’s really fulfilling to be a piece of a puzzle that can perform music much bigger than myself.
What do you hope to provide your audience with through your music?
I hope that I am able to present it in a way that wins over new people and is enjoyable to those who already know it.
