SHARE-A-STAND

American Youth Symphony’s music education program, Share-A-Stand (SAS), provides LAUSD students with high-level, instrument-specific instruction. We train AYS musicians to become socially-conscious, engaging, and empathetic artist-educators.

SHARE-A-STAND IN ACTION

Musicians visit our partner schools as instrument-specific “String Coaches,” leading sectionals, rehearsing side-by-side with students, and mentoring students in their creative and personal growth. In addition to String Coaching, the AYS Community Educator leads group lessons that combine challenging music theory with fun and accessible music games and activities.

SAS is currently partnered with Markham Middle School in Watts, Griffith STEAM Magnet Middle School in East Los Angeles, and Robert Frost Middle School in Granada Hills, providing advanced music training to more than 300 music students.
