Sarah Coade Mandell is the President of The Mandell Collection of Southern California, a collection of artist-quality musical instruments placed with advanced students and professional musicians. As founder of the Hardly Strictly Classical Concert Series, she curates a series of free concerts which partners internationally acclaimed artists with local musicians. Sarah also serves on the management team of QRMS, LLC, a family investment and financial services office.
Sarah has served on the Boards of several philanthropic and non-profit organizations, including the Clarence E. Heller Charitable Foundation (San Francisco, CA), Sol-LA Music Academy (Santa Monica, CA), Music Academy of the West (Montecito, CA), and is an active alumna of the Interlochen Center for the Arts (Interlochen, MI) and the Oberlin College & Conservatory of Music (Oberlin, OH).
A native of Carlsbad, CA, Sarah began her music studies at eight years old when she and her sisters studied violin in their local Suzuki program. All Coade sisters have since become professional musicians. Sarah is a cello and double bass graduate of Oberlin College & Conservatory of Music, with further studies at UC San Diego and the USC School of Music. She has performed 20+ seasons in the Southern California area as an orchestral and session musician for commercial, television, and motion picture scores. Sarah’s final two scores, Up and Star Trek, were for the Academy Award Winning composer Michael Giacchino.
Sarah, husband Peter Mandell, and their daughter live in Los Angeles.
