PROGRAMS

AYS is committed to offering premium artistic opportunities to the most qualified young musicians, and to providing a vast and growing spectrum of outreach and music education activities to the general public.

Orchestral program
Combining traditional repertoire, innovative programming and world-class soloists, AYS concerts take place throughout the year at some of California's most prestigious concert halls including Royce Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.

Composer residency
AYS initiates a new composer residency beginning in the 2006-2007 concert season. We are honored to announce that the residency will be held by the distinguished American composer Ned Rorem.

Conducting assistantship
American Youth Symphony provides two young conductors the opportunity to work alongside Maestro Alexander Treger, in the positions of Assistant Conductor and Conducting Fellow.

Outreach Program
The American Youth Symphony Outreach Program brings violin and general music instruction to elementary-age children in at-risk parts of Los Angeles County. For more information, visit our Outreach pages!
